Grow in Faith

At Lord of Love, we have educational programs for all ages, both on Sunday mornings and during the week. Our regular program year runs from September through May. The last day of Sunday School is generally the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend.

Sunday School
Sundays during the school year at 9:15 a.m.

Classes for children 3 years old through 6th grade
In our preschool class, we focus on Bible stories. Children learn Bible stories from The Beginner’s Bible: Timeless Children’s Stories, do craft projects, and engage in play with their peers.

In kindergarten through 4th grade, we use Whirl Lectionary Sunday School curriculum by Sparkhouse, a division of Augsburg Fortress. Whirl provides Scripture-based lessons with engaging animations that help kids relate the Bible to their lives.

In 5th and 6th grades, we use Connect curriculum by Sparkhouse. Connect engages preteens in God’s big story through videos, Bible exploration, and hands-on projects.

We have Sunday school every single Sunday throughout the program year. On holidays, all of the classes meet as one large group for an activity or craft.

Class for 7th and 8th graders
In our middle school class, we use Faith Inkubators’ Head to the Heart (H2H) adolescent confirmation ministry program. H2H helps revolutionize confirmation from lecture/classroom to the very best relational/experiential model of confirmation. H2H combines current life with Biblical truths. It features art, music, skits, and gameshows, while building lasting caring relationships at church.

Class for 9th through 12th graders
Our senior high class explores how their faith impacts current situations going on in our world.

Adult Forum
Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
Periodically, adult forums are offered on Sunday mornings and cover topics related to our emphasis on mission and other issues facing the church.

Adult Bible and Book Studies
Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
One or more lay-led groups meet on Sunday mornings for Bible or book studies that are usually short-term, thematic studies.

Preschool
Monday–Friday at 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 3:00 p.m.
The preschool is a part time program for 3-5 year olds. All children must be fully potty trained in order to attend. The children will learn social, emotional, academic, and physical skills that will help prepare them for Kindergarten. The children will also learn Bible verses and have chapel time.

Women’s Gather Bible Studies
First Monday & Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
The Women of the ELCA at Lord of Love have two groups that meet each month—one on the first Monday of the month and one on the first Wednesday of the month—for Bible study using the Gather magazine’s study series. The spring 2016 Bibles studies focus on Philippians.

Luther Kids (1st through 6th grades)
Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
Luther Kids is a mid-week ministry that uses the same Whirl curriculum that we use in Sunday School for the theme of each week’s activities. This is a great way to enhance what the students are learning on Sunday mornings.

Confirmation (7th and 8th grades)
Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
Confirmation classes are held most Wednesdays of the school year and are led by the pastor. Adult mentors engage the students in more in-depth discussion of lesson topics. Sunday School sessions (discussed above) further complement the confirmation process with additional bible study.

Senior High Youth Bible Study
Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
Our senior high Bible study on Wednesday evenings is an opportunity for devotion and fellowship.

Men’s Bible Study
Saturdays at 7:00 a.m.
Every Saturday morning, the men of the church gather for breakfast, worship/study, discussion, and fellowship.

Vacation Bible School
June 8, 9, 10, 2017
The theme for VBS is “Camp Out; getting s’more with Jesus”.
VBS meets Thursday and Friday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (dinner at 5:30) and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch.
