Mission Possible
Our Lord of Love Mission Possible Team has been working hard to make plans for our Mission Dollars (3% of income plus our special offering funds) for the coming school year. More details will come, but overall plans for support and involvement include:
Feed the Roots—support for various NE Synod leadership programs
Fall: Pennies for Peace–build schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan
Christmas/January: Support for education for Pastor Miamu’s children in Tanzania
Winter/Spring, 2011: Cristo Rey Iglesia (Hispanic ELCA congregation inSouth Omaha)—purchased Augsburg Spark Story and Youth Bibles, assisting in teaching Sunday School, joint Lord of Love/Cristo Rey Youth Event, and working with their vacation Bible school in June. The students in the Cristo Rey Sunday school are using the Bibles now for Sunday school and they love them. From 16-30 children attend each Sunday. The youth Bibles are being used for confirmation for the 12 participating students.
Spring, 2011: Doctors without Borders
Monies raised from Summer Breakfast offerings will be going to the Lutheran Diaster Fund.
In addition, we encourage you to consider second mile gifts to Lutheran World Relief specifically for funds for victims of the floods in Pakistan. For more information, check out the Lutheran World Relief Website: http://www.lwr.org/
