Mission Possible
Our Lord of Love Mission Possible Team has been working hard to make plans for our Mission Dollars (3% of income plus our special offering funds) for the 2011-2012 school year. More details will come, but below is a listing of organizations we have either donated funds to already, or are planning to support.
Congregational Mission Fund
3% of the money Lord of Love takes in goes to this fund. The Mission Possible Committee decides how it is dispersed in order to do the most good. Here is where this money has gone since fall of 2011:
Feed the Roots: 0.5% of the money Lord of Love takes in goes to this project that offers support for various NE Synod leadership programs.
$1,500 went to support the building of a roof on a school associated with a Lutheran Church in Tanzania.
$500 was sent to Bob Kasworm to be distributed in Tanzania where he sees the most need.
$1,000 went to the Food bank of the Heartland to help fight hunger in our local community and the surrounding area.
$2,000 went to Lutheran Family Services to support their programs here in Omaha.
$622 was donated to ELCA Disaster Response
Special Offerings
Thanksgiving Offering of $569 was donated to Together Inc.
Advent and Christmas offerings were given to Lutheran Family Services here in Omaha to help fund their many programs.
Lenten and Easter Offerings have been designated to help build a roof on a school associated with a Lutheran church in Tanzania.
Monies raised from Summer Breakfast offerings will be going to the Lord of Love Youth Fund.
We also just completed a very successful “Diaper Derby” in which we collected cash plus diapers totaling the equivalent of 15, 541 diapers that are going to help Lutheran Family Services’ Center for Family Services here in Omaha.
Also, we encourage you to consider second mile gifts to Lutheran World Relief. For more information, check out the Lutheran World Relief Website: http://www.lwr.org/
