The Christmas season begins with Advent and continues through the celebration of our Savior’s birth until Epiphany.
During Advent we gather to worship and anticipate the coming of our Lord Jesus.
At Christmas we praise God for the gift of His son, Jesus.
Advent and Christmas Worship Services
Midweek Advent Services
This Advent season we explore the theme “God is With Us” through the following verses:
Dec. 5 – We are the clay, and you are our potter. –Isaiah 64:8
Dec. 12 – He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms. –Isaiah 40:11
Dec. 19 – Come let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his
ways and that we may walk in his paths. –Isaiah 2:3
Each Wednesday of Advent we gather for fellowship and worship.
5:30PM to 6:30PM – Meal and conversation in the fellowship hall
6:15PM to 6:45PM – Interactive Family Worship
About 6:10 p.m. people gather early and pick 2-4 of their favorite Advent or Christmas songs to sing together.
The service consists of words and actions that are repeated to reinforce each night’s theme.
At the close of the half-hour worship time we invite families to take home a packet containing questions to answer while working on a craft that reinforces the theme.
7:00PM – Worship using the Holden Evening Prayer
Christmas Eve Worship, Monday, December 24
4:30PM – Family Christmas Eve Worship with Holy Communion
10:30PM – Musical Prelude of many talented musicians being lifted up to God
11:00PM – Christmas Eve Candlelight Service with Holy Communion
Cookie Tins and Blankets Preparation
9:00AM – Saturday, December 15 – Preparation of “goodie” containers for those who need some extra love this season. Please bring 2 dozen cookies and any extra containers you may have.
Following that, help make fleece blankets for “Project Linus”. Their mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. Some materials will be available. If you can, please bring two pieces of coordinating fleece for each blanket, each two yards by 60 inches.
Thank you for participating in these projects that help those in need!
Chili and caroling with the choir!
11:30AM – Sunday, December 16 – Anyone with a voice to sing praises to the newborn king is welcome to join in on the chili dinner and caroling. If you are able, bring some chili to put into the roaster and/or something to share that goes with chili. There is always plenty of chili and other tasty items available.
We organize into two groups to carol to congregation members and others who are in need of Christmas cheer. After getting organized, we head out to go caroling no later than 12:30 p.m., and be back to the church by 2:30-3 p.m.
